The Bernie Grants Arts Centre plans to open in September 2007. It will be one of the most significant cultural spaces in London and Tottenham's home for black performers and their audiences, where black talent can be developed. The Centre will be the first purpose-built learning, presenting and working space in England that focuses on developing creative practitioners, managers and advocates through participation in accredited courses, career professional development programmes and open classes. It will showcase the work of emerging practitioners from the local community and London generally who have honed their skills on its courses, local groups and visiting national and international artists. The Centre is made up of an administration centre - box office, retail space, two learning rooms, a resource room and offices - in the main foyer (a grade II listed building), which leads to a courtyard and the 300-seat auditorium, bar and rehearsal space. Through a further courtyard is the enterprise building, which includes a meeting room, shared kitchen facilities and 20 workspaces for creative businesses.
